How to choose a plant pot

Choose a pot 2 to 4 cm wider than the nursery pot so the plant slips in easily. A drainage hole lets excess water escape and prevents root rot; use a saucer indoors to protect furniture. Without a drainage hole, keep the plant in its nursery pot and use the decorative pot as a cover, emptying any water that collects.

Bringing plants up high
