The piece

Ribbed glass bud vases in amber, smoke, teal and pink, each with its own playful silhouette.

Fine vertical ribs run all around the glass and soften the light. The shapes are different on purpose: a low amber bulb, slim smoke and pink columns, a teal vase with a round top. Line them up for a colourful row of single stems.

Questions

How big is it?

They are bud vases about 16 to 20 cm high and 6 to 10 cm wide depending on the model; the teal round-top vase is about 17 cm high and 8 cm wide. They suit a windowsill, a bedside table, a desk or a dining table.

How many stems does it hold?

One to three slender stems. Fine vertical ribs run around the glass and soften the light around a single flower. A tulip, a sweet pea, a cosmos or a sprig of eucalyptus is ideal; choose stems about twice the height of the vase.

Can I mix styles?

Yes, the five styles are different on purpose: a low amber bulb, slim smoke and pink columns, a smoke vase with a bubble base and a teal vase with a round top. Line them up for a colourful row of single stems on a windowsill, where the light passes through the colours.

Can I use it with fresh flowers?

Yes, it holds water. Change the water every two days and recut the stems at an angle to keep the flowers fresh. Remove any leaves below the waterline to keep the water clear in the tinted glass.

How do I clean it?

Rinse it with warm water and a thin bottle brush, or swirl a little rice with soapy water inside. Wash by hand rather than in the dishwasher and dry with a soft cloth to keep the ribs shiny. White vinegar removes limescale.

Are the flowers included?

No, the vase is sold empty. A single tulip, sweet pea or cosmos stem is enough to show off its ribbed glass. Even empty, the coloured glass brings a soft glow to a sunny windowsill.

    Smaller than in my head

Very beautiful glass, the ribs diffuse the light in a subtle way. It is smaller than I imagined, around 16 cm, so it is really intended for one or two flowers. A pretty object nonetheless, just more modest in size.

    Dried grass looks great too

I use it without water for some dried bunny tail grass. Works perfectly and looks very Scandinavian.

Nice glass, too small for my use

The glass is nice and the colour is good. But I wanted it for small bouquets and the opening is narrow, really only for one or two stems. My mistake, but a bit disappointing.

A vase for every stem I bring home

I have a habit of bringing back one flower from the market every Saturday, never a full bouquet, and I never had the right vase for that. Now I have three of these: the smoke column, the pink column and the amber low one. A long stem goes in a column, a short one with a big head goes in the amber. The ribbed glass hides the stems a little, so even when the water is not perfectly fresh it still looks neat. They arrived very well protected, which I was worried about with glass. The colours are exactly like the photos, maybe the smoke is a bit greyer. A small pleasure every week.

    Love the column shape

The slim column is perfect for a narrow window ledge where nothing else fits.
