Questions

What is a propagation vase?

It is a clear vase for growing plant cuttings in water, so you can watch the roots develop before potting them up. This one is 18 cm high and 10 cm wide, with a dark-stained wooden frame. It is an easy, inexpensive way to grow new plants from the ones you already have.

Which cuttings work best?

Pothos, monstera, philodendron, tradescantia, or herbs such as mint and basil. Cut just below a node, remove the lower leaves and place the stem so the node sits in the water. Roots usually appear within a few weeks in a bright spot.

Can I take the glass out?

Yes, the glass vase slides out of the frame for cleaning and water changes. Wipe the frame with a dry cloth and keep it away from spills, as water can mark the stained wood. Refill the glass at the sink, then slide it back.

How often should I change the water?

Once a week, or as soon as it looks cloudy. Rinse the glass at the same time to avoid algae, and use water at room temperature. Bright, indirect light is ideal; strong direct sun encourages algae.

Can I use it with flowers?

Yes, a few fresh stems or a small bunch of wild flowers look lovely in it. Change the water every two days when you use it with cut flowers, and recut the stems at an angle to keep them fresh.

Is a plant included?

No, the vase is sold empty. A cutting from a friend's pothos or monstera is the easiest way to start your first propagation. With a rooting cutting inside, it makes a thoughtful gift for a plant lover.

Nice idea, glass moves a bit

The idea and the look are nice. On mine the glass is a little loose in the frame and moves when I carry it, so I am careful. It works for my cutting, but I expected it to sit more firmly for the price.

    Lovely, slow delivery

Lovely object, the dark wood frame and the clear glass work well together. Delivery took longer than I hoped.

    Wild flowers too

Not only for cuttings: I put some wild flowers from a walk in it and it looked lovely on the table.

    Smaller than I thought

Very cute, but 18 cm is smaller than I imagined, there is room for one or two cuttings only. Good quality.
