Wall vases for cuttings and flowers

A wall vase keeps flowers and cuttings off the table and brings greenery up to eye level. Our test-tube wall vase hangs from a jute rope, with one to three wooden tiers each holding a row of glass tubes. Fill them with water and pothos cuttings, herbs or single stems.

What is a propagation vase?

A propagation vase is a clear vessel for rooting plant cuttings in water. Through the glass you can watch the roots develop, then pot the cutting up when the roots are a few centimetres long. Pothos, tradescantia, philodendron, mint and basil root easily.

Where to hang a wall vase

Choose a bright spot out of harsh direct sun, which encourages algae: beside a window, in a kitchen or on a hallway wall. Change the water every week and rinse the tubes with a bottle brush. Remove the tubes to refill them so the wood and the rope stay dry.
