Hanging planters

Hanging planters in macramé jute and handwoven straw, for trailing plants and orchids that free up your windowsills.

— The Sauvelin guide

Hanging planters

A hanging planter brings greenery up to eye level and frees up shelves and windowsills. Our hanging planters include a rustic macramé jute basket that hangs on a wall or from a hook, and a light handwoven straw planter that hangs from a ceiling hook or a curtain pole.

Which plants for a hanging planter?

Trailing plants look best, as their stems spill over the edge: pothos, string of pearls, ivy, tradescantia or a spider plant. Orchids also suit airy woven planters. Choose a plant whose nursery pot fits inside the planter.

Watering hanging plants

Woven planters are not watertight. Keep the plant in its own pot, water it in the sink, let it drain and put it back. Check that the hook or bracket is fixed securely into the ceiling or wall, especially after watering, when the pot is heavier.
